Palisades Parkway - Traffic Alert OVERNIGHT Closures ;
Please read carefully. More information is available on the NYS DOT website.
A major construction project on the Palisades Parkway spanning approximately 8 months is scheduled to start the week of April 3, 2017. OVERNIGHT closures are scheduled to start Wednesday April 5th and Thursday April 6th at 9 PM with the parkway re-opening at 6AM on Friday. There will be NO CLOSURES from Fridays at 6AM until Mondays at 9PM. Continuing on Monday April 10th, road closures will be EVERY Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night from 9PM to 6AM. All traffic will be detoured with clearly marked NYS DOT signs and lighted message boards.
The first of 4 sections to be closed will be NORTHBOUND FROM EXIT 13 in Mt Ivy to Exit 15 in Stony Point. This section will be subject to the closure on days and times listed above for approximately 4-6 weeks.
Please start planning alternate routes especially if you travel north/south at night to or from Orange County to avoid delays. Use the NYS Thruway as an alternate.
After the first section is complete, the second section is scheduled to start mid to late May and will be SOUTHBOUND from exit 15 to exit 13. Sections 3 and 4 will be exit 15 to exit 18, and exit 18 to exit 15. Updates will be posted on a regular basis.
( From the NYS DOT website) This project will improve the quality of pavement on the Palisades Interstate Parkway from Route 202 interchange (Exit 13) to the Palisades Interstate Parkway Book Store / Service Area to good condition by making partial and full depth Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) repairs and diamond grinding the existing concrete roadway surface. Existing sections which are overlaid with asphalt pavement will be milled off and a new asphalt surface placed. This project will include new pavement markings and replace traffic inductance loops as required, installation of joint sealer in joints and cracks as well as cleaning and repairing of drainage basins within the Towns of Haverstraw and Stony Point in Rockland County and the Towns of Highlands and Woodbury in Orange County.
