Public Alert

Message from the Chief of Police

The Stony Point Police Department recognizes the tragic events that have affected our community during 2014.  The senseless loss of young lives involved in several motor vehicle accidents have left the families and community reeling from their losses.

We recognize that there are a number of factors which contribute to accidents such as speed, driver distraction/inattention, inexperience, alcohol/drugs, aggressive driving, etc.  Each year we review our efforts and formulate new initiatives to keep our community and its residents safe.  We realize we cannot do this alone and it will require both enforcement and education to get the message to our motorists and more specifically our young inexperienced drivers, in order to have a positive effect in reducing accidents.

Therefore we are utilizing social media with our website, Facebook page and the Stony Point Police MyPD app to provide parents and drivers information to educate themselves and their children on the dangers associated with driving.  Please review the links below to various websites as we partner with them and you to help reduce accidents and the tragedies that have touched our community.

Wishing you and your families a safe and happy holiday season.
