On Sunday, May 17 over 5000 bicyclists will start riding from the GWB early in the morning and ride all the way north to Perkins Memorial Drive using many town and village roads in Rockland including 9W. They will NOT be using the parkway. That was another race which most likely will not occur again.
STONY POINT AREA INFO ONLY: Bikes will start entering Stony Point northbound along the seawall approximately 8:30 am. They will ride River Road and turn onto Beach Road and turn north on 9W at Tomkins Ave. Large groups of cyclists will soon follow the leaders as they make their way up 9W into Bear Mountain. The bikes then come back south and turn onto Mott Farm Road to Cedar Flats Road then onto Route 210 turning west towards Gate Hill Road. They will ride to the top and turn left down the steep hill onto Willow Grove Road and leave Stony Point south on Call Hollow Road. Police throughout the county will be stationed at many intersections. Traffic may be stopped intermittently to allow the larger groups to pass safely however no roads in Stony Point are closed to traffic. Please drive carefully if you are passing cyclists. Avoid 9W in Tomkins Cove if at all possible. Come out and cheer on the riders who come from around the globe to ride in the beautiful Hudson Valley. They will be cleared from the Stony Point area by approximately 1:00 pm
