Testing Process The examination for the position of police officer is usually given every four years. The next exam has been scheduled for November 17, 2012. LAST DATE TO FILE IS WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 26, 2012 by 5pm. Applications for the written exam can be obtained directly from the Rockland County Department of Personnel by calling 845-638-5200 or at the Stony Point Police Department . Physical and Other Requirements: Must be between the ages of 19 and 35 by date of examination and a minimum of 20 years of age and a U.S. citizen by date of appointment. Applicants must also be a legal resident of Rockland , Orange , Putnam, Westchester , Dutchess, Sullivan , Ulster , Nassau , Suffolk , Bronx , New York , or Queens Counties . NOTE: DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS A TOWN RESIDENCY LIST MAY BE ESTABLISHED. License: Possess a valid New York driver’s license by date of appointment. Candidates with prior police experience must provide proof of completion of a basic Police Officer Academy recognized by the New York State Office of Public Safety.
